Treatment for tubular or tuberous breasts

Tubular or tubular breasts are not always easy to recognize. One to five percent of women who come to our office for breast augmentation are found to have tubular breasts. Tubular breasts occur when the underside of the breast lags in development. It is very important that this congenital defect be recognized as such because regular breast augmentation is not appropriate in cases of tubular breasts.

The treatment process

What is the treatment process for tubular or tubular breast treatment?

Anesthesia

General anesthesia

Operation duration

120 – 180 minutes

Recovery time

2 – 3 weeks

Many women with tubular breasts who visit the plastic surgeon for breast augmentation only discover during the consultation that their breasts are underdeveloped. This results in uneven breasts. It is crucial for the plastic surgeon in question to recognize the condition because, in this scenario, the breast correction procedure must be performed differently than in a regular breast correction.

During the initial consultation before the tubular breast enhancement procedure, we will thoroughly explain the workings of the procedure. We will also provide you with information regarding potential risks and complications. Additionally, our plastic surgeon will inquire about your medical history and any medications you are currently taking.

A 100 euro consultation fee is charged for a consultation. These will be deducted from the final price of the treatment.

Correcting tubular breasts requires a different approach than enlarging normal breasts. In the case of enlarging normal breasts, placing a prosthesis is generally sufficient. In the case of tubular breasts, merely placing a prosthesis will not produce the desired results in most cases.

It is important to work on the shape of the breasts in addition to placing the prosthesis. This can be done by lowering the breast fold and cutting the glands. This creates a proportional distribution of glandular tissue. In addition, it may also be necessary to reduce the areola and relocate the nipple.

Although tubular breast surgery is more extensive than standard breast surgery, it is certainly possible to achieve a beautiful result in the case of tubular breasts. However, it is very important that the condition be recognized as such and that the tubular breast not be treated as a normal breast. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia and takes about two hours.

After surgery, in most cases we choose to keep you overnight for observation. This way we carefully monitor your recovery and intervene immediately when necessary. Immediately after surgery your breasts may feel painful and tense. These symptoms will subside after a few days. Listen to your body: any movements you can do painlessly will not hinder your recovery.

As with any surgical procedure, there is a risk of complications with tubal breast enhancement. For example, you may experience an allergic reaction, post-bleeding or poor healing. Because of the years of experience of our surgeons and our good preparation and aftercare, the risk of complications after surgery at Clinic Blooming is very low. The complications that may occur are:

Rare

  • Wound infection
  • Scarring
  • Extra sensitive nipples
  • Post-bleeding
  • Allergic reaction

Very rare

  • Shifting of the implant
  • Visible prosthetics
  • Breast capsule formation
  • Torn implant
  • Asymmetry
  • Dissatisfied with the aesthetic result

Scars

Scars are red and swollen at first, but this usually lessens after six weeks. Keep in mind that a scar takes about a year to a year and a half to reach a final stage. Keep scars out of the sun and care for them with a scar cream. At our clinic, we use Staudt scar cream.

Smoking

Stop smoking at least six weeks before to six weeks after treatment. Smoking constricts blood vessels, which can cause problems with wound healing. The risk of subsequent bleeding is reduced once you stop smoking.

Frequently Asked Questions

The duration of visible results from tubular breast correction varies for each person. While your breasts have been corrected, the aging process in your body still continues, which can lead to sagging and drooping over time. Pregnancy and weight fluctuations also contribute to these changes.

In certain instances, tubular breasts may have such minimal mammary gland tissue that breastfeeding is not feasible. If your breasts possess adequate tissue, then implant placement will not harm your milk production capability. However, if it becomes necessary to redistribute glandular tissue or relocate your areola during the correction, it could have negative effects on breastfeeding.

In general, the sensation in your chest stays the same. However, the area where the scar will be situated may be somewhat numb. The sensation of your nipple and areola may be different for the first few weeks, but this is not usually permanent.
