Botox

A Botox treatment is a method to prevent wrinkles and thus getting a fresh, young and natural looking appearance. An example is making crow’s feet smoother or a forehead wrinkle/frown wrinkle, remedying a gummy smile or reducing dry skin. Botox not only inhibits muscle movements that cause wrinkles to occur, it is also used to reduce medical symptoms. Botulin toxin, the working substance in Botox, also ensures that complaints such as migraine, grinding teeth or excessive sweating can be treated effectively.

Treatment with Botox is not invasive, but Botox definitely changes your appearance. The specialists at our clinic in Haarlem find it important that you fully support your decision. Therefore, you will always have an intake interview with the specialist treating you. In this consultation, we explain to you the expected result of the treatment and the risks. This way you can make an informed choice. If necessary, a follow-up consultation will be scheduled to see the result of the treatment.

A consultation is subject to a €100 consultation fee. These will be deducted from the final price of the treatment.

The Botox treatment generally takes no longer than 15 minutes. A thin needle is used to inject Botox into a muscle, stabilizing the muscle and restoring facial harmony. The thin needle ensures that this does not leave you with scars. After the treatment, the final result is not immediately visible. After a few days, the first effects become visible and after two to three weeks the full result can be seen. Botox treatment is suitable for both cosmetic and medical purposes.

You may not lie on one side, exercise or rub your face up to three hours after the Botox treatment. For three days after the injection, you can regularly contract the facial muscles on the advice of the plastic surgeon to positively influence the result. The effect of Botox treatment is visible for a minimum of three months and a maximum of six months. Of course, you can go to Kliniek Blooming in Haarlem again after this period. Because we “know” your face, a follow-up treatment is shorter and the result is even better. In many cases, the effect of teeth grinding and excessive sweating remains noticeable for much longer: on average nine months.

Treatment with Botox is safe, but as with the use of other drugs or procedures, you may experience side effects. However, these symptoms are often short-lived. The side effects that can occur with Botox treatment can be divided into 2 categories: rare and very rare.

Rare

  • Bruising around areas of injection.
  • Swelling around the eyes. This may occur a few days after the injection and will disappear spontaneously after five to 10 days.
  • Headache: this usually disappears after a few days. Individuals with migraine and muscle tension headaches may actually benefit from botulinum toxin injections.
  • Eyebrow ptosis: this can result from injecting too close to the eyebrow to remove the low wrinkles on the forehead. The eyebrow will eventually return to its normal position.

Very rare

  • Eyelid ptosis: drooping of the eyelid after injection.
  • Difficulty swallowing: may occur with injections in or around the neck region. This effect is temporary.
  • Allergic reaction.
  • Nausea and dizziness, fever and signs of flu.
  • Dissatisfaction with aesthetic result.

We do not recommend Botox treatment during pregnancy, during antibiotic treatment, when you have just been vaccinated and while breastfeeding. Also inform us if you are hypersensitive to Botox or suffer from myasthenia gravis (muscle disorder) or Lambert Eaton syndrome.

We often use the collective name “Injectables” when it comes to Botox and Fillers. Both treatments are performed to reduce or combat wrinkles, but there is indeed a difference. Botox treatment takes about 15 minutes and ensures that the muscles that cause wrinkles relax. Botox is used, among other things, when reducing frown wrinkles, crow’s feet and forehead wrinkles. Botox works preventively against wrinkles and is used when the skin needs rest. Botox remains visible for about three to seven months. A filler treatment, on the other hand, takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes and is used to fill the wrinkles. You can think of lines around the nose lip fold or volume loss at the sleep or cheeks. Fillers are also used for filling lips. Fillers remain visible for about nine months to two years and are broken down by the body. This is because fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, a body’s own substance. A filler is used when the wrinkle is already clearly visible.

Generally, a treatment with Botox takes 10 minutes. It may take longer some times than others. This depends on the number of areas to be treated and the degree of difficulty. During the Botox treatment, a small amount of Botox is injected with a thin needle into the muscles, which this stabilizes. Due to the use of the thin needle, there is no scarring. The effects of Botox are visible after about a week. The full results can be seen after about three weeks.

The effect of the botox treatment is fully visible for approximately seven months. From three months after treatment, the functioning of botox in your skin can already reduce. You can choose to undergo a follow -up treatment during this purchase period. This treatment is shorter and the result is better because we know your face. If you undergo a botox treatment to reduce migraine, teeth grinding or excessive sweating, the effects will be visible on average for ten to twelve months. In the table below we give you an indication of the functioning of botox.

Botox is used to prevent wrinkles. With a Botox treatment, the muscles are relaxed which also reduces the appearance of folds in the skin above. These folds can actually cause the wrinkles so by not giving these folds a chance, you will not develop wrinkles.

Botox treatment is usually performed to reduce dynamic wrinkles such as frown wrinkles, forehead wrinkles and crow’s feet. In addition, wrinkles around the nose, upper lip and chin can also be reduced with botox. In recent years, Botox has been used more and more often for medical purposes such as reducing complaints due to excessive sweating, grinding teeth and migraine.
