Liposuction

Liposuction is the solution for disturbing fat deposits that you do not lose with sports and a healthy diet. During the liposuction treatment, local fat on the body is removed. Our plastic surgeons suck the fat around your belly, hips, legs, back, back chin or neck bump with fine canules. With this, unwanted fat deposits disappear and we bring your body contours back into proportion. The fat cells are definitively removed by means of this treatment method: the fat cells will not return. With Blooming, liposuction can also be combined with Renuvion (also known as J-Plasma) for skin tightening and contour improvement.

During the initial consultation, you will discuss your needs and expectations with the plastic surgeon. The surgeon will tell you what options are available and what results you can expect. The attending plastic surgeon will explain how liposuction works. The entire treatment process will be discussed and you will be informed in detail about the different options, the pros and cons of liposuction, aftercare, risks of and possible complications after the treatment. In addition, we will discuss whether your personal wishes fit your initial situation. The exact locations of the liposuction will also be discussed. In this conversation you can also ask all your questions about liposuction.

We think it is important to inform you well during the consultation about the result to be achieved, the risks and possible complications, so that you can make a well -considered decision. Ultimately, your wishes and satisfaction with the result of the treatment are paramount.

A consultation is subject to a €100 consultation fee. These will be deducted from the final price of the treatment.

Before treatment begins, the plastic surgeon carefully marks off the affected areas and the locations of the incisions. You will then be anesthetized, either locally or completely, depending on the size of the area to be treated and your medical condition. Once the anesthesia has set in, the area in question is injected through the small incisions in inconspicuous places (such as skin folds) with a fluid that facilitates the extraction of the fat cells and reduces blood loss. Once this liquid has set in, the surgeon inserts the suction needle through the incisions. This is connected to a powerful pump that sucks out the fat cells.

The plastic surgeon constantly checks the place where he removes the fat to make sure that the amount of sucked fat is sufficient. If the treatment is combined with Renuvion, the same incense holes are used. When the desired result is achieved, the small incisions are attached. Sometimes small tubes (drains) are brought in to remove excess wound fluid. These can usually be removed again after two days. You don’t have to spend the night with us after a liposuction.

After the treatment, the effect of the anesthetic and the fluid continue to work for a few hours. Because of this, you will experience hardly any pain the first night after the procedure. After that, the treated area may be stiff, sore and sensitive.

The scars of the incisions are very small, but can be swollen and red for the first six weeks after liposuction. Then this gradually decreases. The complete healing process of scars lasts one to a year and a half. To promote this process, we recommend that you use a good scar cream and to expose your scars as little as possible to UV radiation. To promote the wound healing process, we advise you not to smoke six weeks before and six weeks after the operation and not to consume alcohol for 1 week before and 1 week after surgery. With this you reduce the chance of after bleeding and other complications.

As with any surgery, there is a small chance of a complication. Common risks are:

  • post-bleeding
  • infections
  • swelling
  • delayed wound healing
  • allergic reactions

Specific complications that occur in exceptional cases with liposuction are:

  • numbness treated area
  • irregular skin surface
  • bruises
  • skin discoloration
  • hardened skin
  • tissue die-off

During the consultation, the plastic surgeon will discuss all the risks and possible complications with you.

Whether loose skin remains depends on skin elasticity and the location of the procedure. During the initial consultation, the surgeon can indicate whether you will suffer from excess skin based on the size of the fat accumulation and your skin condition.
