“We are increasingly achieving better results in the reconstruction of scars.”
My name is Paul van Zuijlen and I have been working as a plastic surgeon in the Red Cross Hospital in Beverwijk since 2006. I spend most of my time caring for burns and extensive scar reconstruction. This experience, as well as the knowledge I gained during my many international working visits, helps us achieve the best possible results. That gives me great satisfaction. Prof. Paul van Zuijlen studied medicine at the University of Amsterdam. He earned his PhD for the use of artificial skin on scarring. After completing his training as a plastic surgeon, he visited renowned clinics in the United States, Canada, Australia and studied acute burn treatment, scar reconstruction, microsurgery, facial reconstruction and scar treatment. In 2010, he was appointed affiliated Professor for Burns Medicine at the VU University of Amsterdam and has supervised research in the field of skin and cartilage tissue engineering, treatment of burn injuries and scars, as well as stem cell technology. Paul Van Zuijlen has worked as a plastic surgeon in the Burns Unit in Beverwijk since October 2006. He forms part of the Blooming plastic surgery partnership. His particular area of interest is reconstructive surgery.
