In a body lift “torsoplasty,” excess skin of the abdomen, hips/flanks, back and buttocks is cut away in the same operation to give the patient a tighter body. Before the treatment we invite you for a personal consultation. During the consultation your plastic surgeon will go through your wishes with you and discuss the treatment method with which the best result can be achieved. In particular, we will see if you qualify for a “bodylift”. If, in addition to excess skin, you also have excess fat, you can opt for liposuction in consultation with your surgeon. During the follow-up consultation, your attending plastic surgeon will also go over your medical history, medication use and your overall health. For example, if you are taking blood thinners, you should stop taking them at least one week before the operation. In addition, the plastic surgeon will tell you what result you can expect, what the possible risks are and what the best aftercare is. After the first consultation, you may want to schedule a second consultation to avoid it becoming a hasty or uninformed decision for you.

A 100 euro consultation fee is charged for a consultation. These will be deducted from the final price of the treatment.

Once your plastic surgeon has completed the tummy tuck, you will remain in the hospital for one more night of observation. The first day after the body lift, it is important that you take bed rest and do not exert yourself. You will wear compression garments for 6 weeks to support recovery of the treated area. After two weeks you will come for a check-up and the surgeon will remove all sutures. For six weeks after treatment, you should not do any heavy lifting or intense exercise. The total recovery period from a tummy tuck is about four to six weeks. After that, you can gradually resume all activities.

The risks of a body lift are minimal, but there is always a chance of complications with any procedure. For example, there may be an allergic reaction to the plasters, anesthetic fluids or disinfectants. Also, numbness may occur after the body lift. This numbness is temporary and will eventually return. The most common side effects of a correction are:

Post-bleeding

Delayed wound healing
Dissatisfaction with the aesthetic result

Scars
Scars are red and swollen at first, but this usually subsides six weeks after surgery. Keep in mind that a scar takes about a year to a year and a half to reach a final stage. Keep scars out of the sun and care for them with a scar cream. At our clinic, we use Staudt scar cream.

Smoking
Smoking also affects wound healing; we therefore ask you to stop smoking at least six weeks before the tummy tuck and 6 weeks after the procedure. If you are overweight, we recommend that you first lose weight. A normal weight improves the result of the tummy lift.

To best prepare you for surgical treatment, we will make sure you receive all the necessary information, including the surgical leaflet and the pre- and post-operative information. On the day of the treatment, you will sign the consent form which, among other things, states that you have been extensively informed and give your consent to the attending plastic surgeon to perform the surgical treatment.

The consultation takes place with one of our plastic surgeons. We reserve time for you to answer all your questions. That is why we charge € 100,- for the first consultation. This amount must be paid in cash or by pin (with the exception of credit cards) after the consultation. If you proceed to treatment, this amount will be deducted from the quote and invoice.
